A National Care Service
for Scotland
National Care Service
The Scottish government has abandoned plans for major structural reform of social care and community health.
This means that proposals to create a National Care Service by creating local care boards and a new National Care Service Board will not happen.
We share the Scottish government’s desire to improve the quality and consistency of social care and community health services.
The Care Reform Bill has now passed and the remaining aspects relate to non-controversial changes such as introducing rights to breaks for carers and Anne’s Law.
The Scottish government now intends to establish a non-statutory National Care Service Advisory Board to advise on improving delivery of social care, social work and community health services. 国内精品伊人久久久久妇 Scotland is seeking clarification about the remit and role of this Board.
Our remaining key priorities are:
- Increased funding to employ more registered nurses in care homes to meet the increasing demand for complex clinical care in care homes
- Professional nursing representation on the NCS Advisory Board, in addition to the trade union representation
- Chief Nursing Officer role to be protected in statute, as has been done for social work with the creation of a National Chief Social Work Advisor in statute
- Give Integration Authority nurse board members full board member status
- Parity of pay, terms and conditions with counterparts in the NHS for staff in social care so they feel valued and for tackling the sector’s recruitment and retention crisis
- Minimum standards of employment terms and conditions for all the nursing workforce in any organisation funded by the public purse, as set out in our 国内精品伊人久久久久妇 Employment Standards for Independent Health and Social Care Sectors.
